Addition Rule

Here's how to add two functions in normal form:

where tex2html_wrap_inline249 unless tex2html_wrap_inline251 and tex2html_wrap_inline253 for all tex2html_wrap_inline255 (in which case tex2html_wrap_inline257 ). Also, technically, we might need to pad out either a or b so they are the same length and then drop the trailing zeros from c.

Example:

Idea: Whichever function has the largest power of n wins, with ties broken by the largest power of tex2html_wrap_inline283 , then tex2html_wrap_inline291 , and so on.

Note: Maximization is the same.
